Justice Shouldn't Be a Mystery. Help Us Make It Transparent.

Across the country, communities are demanding accountability from their justice systems—and access to the data that makes it possible. At the Chicago Justice Project, we’re leading the charge to make criminal justice data public, accessible, and actionable.

We are currently battling in DC Superior Court against the Metropolitan Police Department’s efforts to conceal emails detailing which outside agencies they share gang data with. At the same time, we’re confronting the Illinois Department of Corrections in the Illinois Appellate Court over their attempts to hide information about gang tracking procedures and grievances filed against their staff.

These cases are part of a broader movement to expose how justice systems operate behind closed doors—and to ensure that the public has the tools to hold them accountable.

Your support will help us build a national model for justice system transparency: a public database and website that breaks down complex prosecution and policing data into clear, understandable insights. With your help, we’ll clean, analyze, and share this information so communities can advocate for reform and demand accountability.

This isn’t just about Chicago. It’s about setting a precedent for every city and county in America. When people have access to the truth, they can demand better—and build safer, more just communities.

Join us. Stand for transparency. Invest in accountability. Help us reshape justice—starting in Chicago, and reaching far beyond.
